Factor in the right production dependencies for your egg farm to get at accurate estimates. Don't over or undershoot, use this method.
A simple formula for calculating exactly how much feed your flocks will consume. This tells you the actual number of bags needed - handy.
Poultry litter should be 5-10 cm for wood shavings or sawdust (~2.5 to 4 inches) deep, according to the UK’s (Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs).
This depth of poultry litter offers enough absorbance but limits the clutter.
If your litter is pelleted, then you could provide a less depth.
This is because the material is more densely packed into pellets. This style of preparation soaks up waste much more effectively, so less depth is therefore required.
It’s actually more important to have clean litter than aiming for any particular depth.
That said, deeper litter can be more difficult to maintain.
More material, more fuss.
