How many bags of feed for 100 broilers?

On average, 100 broiler chicken would consume 17 bags of 25 kg broiler feed in 6 weeks and 22 bags of 25kg broiler feed within 7 weeks.

The average total rearing period for a commercial broiler chicken worldwide is between 6-7 weeks.

How did I calculate this?

Using data provided within this broiler farming guide written by Livestock Feed Limited (Mauritius), I followed the following simple steps:

  1. 100 broiler chicken would consume 410.6 kg of broiler feed by the end of 6 weeks / 531 kg of broiler feed by the end of 7 weeks
  2. The common size of broiler feed bag traded in countries like Nigeria, for example, is 25kg.
  3. Simply divide 410.9 kg by 25 to get the 6 week broiler consumption figure converted into number of 25 kg bags = 16.42 bags (rounded up to 17 bags)
  4. Then, divide 531 kg by 25 to get the 7 week broiler consumption equivalent answer = 21.24 bags (rounded up to 22 bags)
