Methionine, along with the other essential amino acids, must be present within feed content to be utilised by poultry. As the birds’ bodies are unable to synsthesise Methionine (hence, the classification ‘essential’ amino acid).
Without it, the normative protein/muscle production and correct immune functioning would be lacking, leading to poor rearing performance.

Naturally-occuring or organic sources of Methionine are preferred as feed supplementation for organic poultry farming programs vs. synthetic Methionine.
