The following guide tells you exactly how thick your chosen broiler house insulation material must be to achieve target R-values for best results:
1. Expanded Polystyrene (beadboard):
- Insulation Thickness (cm) for R20 (*SI R3.5) = 16 cm thick
- R-Value (US) per 2.5 cm (1”) = 3.0
2. Cellulose Blown
- Insulation Thickness (cm) for R20 (*SI R3.5) = 16 cm thick
- R-Value (US) per 2.5 cm (1”) = 3.2
3. Fiberglass batt
- Insulation Thickness (cm) for R20 (*SI R3.5) = 16 cm thick
- R-Value (US) per 2.5 cm (1”) = 3.2
4. Polystyrene, extruded plain (pink board)
- Insulation Thickness (cm) for R20 (*SI R3.5) = 10 cm thick
- R-Value (US) per 2.5 cm (1”) = 5.0
5. Polyurethane foam, un-faced
- Insulation Thickness (cm) for R20 (*SI R3.5) = 7 cm thick
- R-Value (US) per 2.5 cm (1”) = 7.0
