There are 2 ways to supply water to your flock in poultry farming.

Open drinker system vs. closed nipple system.

Open drinker systems are prone to contamination, which is obvious.

Here we’re going to look at simple cleaning routine for open drinker systems:

The lower-tech, lower-cost watering method for keeping your flock hydrated is an open system.

Open containers offer drinking water for birds who visit them to quench their thirst.

But what is obvious is their open nature.

This naturally makes them potential reservoirs for contamination.

The poultry house environment gradually accumulates faecal matter. Droppings on the litter stick to birds and are very easily transferred to drinking water when they visit the bell or cup drinkers.

If not sanitised and refreshed, this can lead to sickness within your flocks.
